For example, one of the earliest combinations is called "Spring Time." You get this by burning an alarm clock at the same time as some flower seeds (Spring time, get it?!). You then take that money and buy MORE things to burn, unlocking additional items in the catalog as you go.Īlong the way you attempt to fill out a checklist of combinations of things to burn at the same time by guessing the needed ingredients from the name of the combo. After they're burnt to a crisp they'll drop some money - more money than what they cost to buy. As they burn they do something cute - a small animation, a neat particle effect, a surprising explosion, etc. In Little Inferno you buy things, put them in the fire place and burn them. I think I may go and play World of Goo now. I know it's meant to be about the message more than the gameplay, but the gameplay still has to be compelling and fun and this fell short in my opinion. Calling it a puzzle game is a bit of stretch, considering the puzzles are pretty much optional and when you go to complete them it takes very little effort to work out the combination 'hinted' at. This is all my opinion of course, but the gameplay should have been something more. I feel like they should have stuck with a commentary on modern life as a solitary message rather than try and have a big moral of the game which covers 4 or 5 things. In the first 20 or 30 minutes of playing, it felt like every other line was a reference to nothing lasting forever. The story was interesting and an addition which detracted from the 'smartphone' feel I got, but the messages it was trying to deliver were done atrociously.

It felt like a game I would pay a few dollars for to play on a smartphone rather than a full blown video game that I'd pay $20 for. The storyline was interesting, the characters were nice and the animations were pretty beautiful, but the game play just wasn't there. I'd like to think I'm pretty much impartial here as I didn't play World of Good and therefore have no previous opinions on the creators as most people here do. /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creesch./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits.
